How a rescue works

The call

Most rescues start with a message from someone who has found an animal in need. We reply as soon as we can and ask whether the animal is hurt and whether it can move.

The rescue

We go to the animal and approach it slowly, with food and patience.

At the vet

Rescued animals get a checkup, treatment, vaccinations and a microchip. Neutering follows once the animal is strong enough for surgery.

Recovery and fostering

After treatment, animals recover with a foster family where possible.

Adoption

We look for a good match between the animal and the family. Before an adoption, we talk with you and share what we know about the animal's history.

Found an abandoned animal?

Tell us where it is and, if it is safe, send a photo.

Please note: at the moment we can only help in person in the Balkan region of Europe. We record every report, and where we cannot help ourselves, we forward it to partner organizations or volunteers.
