He was tiny and living on scraps by the road when we found him, and at first he ran from us. Once we held him, he was calm, and in time he found a family of his own.
His name is a nod to the singer Harry Styles, for his very fluffy coat.

A post on social media told of a puppy wandering near a railroad, and we set out to find him right away. We searched the area and found nothing. We kept looking all the same, until one of us spotted something small and white near the curb. It was him.
He was tiny, and he had been living on scraps by the road. When we called to him, he was frightened and ran off. We caught up with him, and once he was in our arms he was calm, almost as if he knew he was safe now. His cold nights outside were over.
For the trip home we had a carrier ready, but then we had a better idea. He would ride up front, right next to us, on a soft blanket of his own. It was probably his first car ride. We stroked him gently as we drove, and before we reached home he was fast asleep.
Once we were home, the shower could not wait. His fur was caked with dust and mud, layer upon layer, and working it all out took a long while. He took it patiently, and by the time he was dry, he was clean and fluffy. After a day like that, he spent his first night with us in a warm bed.
A couple of days later, after breakfast, we took him to the park for his first walk as a free puppy. It did not take long before everyone there wanted to pet him, and he loved the attention. He made friends wherever he went, and soon he was playing nose to nose with another dog.
He was playful, curious and full of life, but his health still had to be checked. The vet examined his ears, eyes and teeth, and he had his vaccines and a treatment against parasites. He was very brave, and the verdict could not have been better: he was perfectly healthy.
And then came the best day of all, the day of his adoption. After hugs and one last goodbye, we were on our way, and when we finally arrived, it was love at first sight between him and his new family. His tail did not stop wagging, and soon he was stretched out on the ground for belly rubs. Another dog was there too, and the two of them played together and got along very well.
When the playing was done, he set off for his new home, held close in the car. The tiny puppy we had found by the road, the one who had once run from us, now had a family of his own. Hairy Styles was safe, loved and no longer alone.
